June 14th

Feast Day of St. Basil the Great, or Mr. Fawlty of Torquay. Venerated amongst the hoteliers associations for his dry wit, extortionate prices, rude behaviour and under cutting the minimum wage, St. Basil is the
Patron Saint of Dead Rats, Spanish Waiters and Cricket Loving Majors. He was martyred on this day by visiting German Politicians, his last reported words being, " Don't mention the war, I did once but I think I got away with it...aaaaaagh!!!!!".

Oh dear...sorry wrong St. Basil apparently. This one was a fourth century Greek Bishop. His feast Day varies from 1st January in the Eastern Orthodox Church to January 2nd for Roman Catholic and Anglican Churches to today in the Lutheran and Episcopal Churches. He is the Patron Saint of Russia, Hospital Administrators, Monks, Exorcism, Monks and Liturgists. Probably the best known monument is St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow.

Political News: Walking sticks, crutches and motobility scooters are to be outlawed by the next Conservative government if they are elected in 2015, " Why should we keep propping up the disabled? We have to let them stand on their own two feet," said SS Kommandant Esther McVey, " we have mollycoddled the disabled far too much! The grafters and hard working people of this country would love to have scooters to tootle to work or a nice stick to lean on now and again, but they cannot afford them on their zero hour contracts. So why should we allow the wreckless disabled? Its time to get them back to work, and if they cannot move...let them fall down where they are...the days of cushiness for the idle disabled upon the hard working tax payer are over! We shall not stigmatise people with labels such as disabled or ill, we just want the same labels for everyone...haves and have nots."
